Certified Welding Inspector - Fabrication Lead

Certified Welding Inspector - Fabrication Lead: The Technical Lead Will assist in the supervision of fabrication operations to ensure optimal performance of the fabrication department. Will assist in managing production schedules, manpower allocation, cost and safety standards. Ensure quality standards, employee training and high employee morale.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, assigns and monitors employees to maximize utilization of welding and fabrication equipment to ensure the production schedule is achieved.
  • Setup and run manufacturing processes to achieve 50% Billable Time as an individual and 90% for their employees
  • Conduct training and instruction to all employees performing operations and assure compliance with proper procedures including current and accurate Visual Method Sheets, Setup Sheets, and Work Instructions.
  • Oversee quality of all operations per the customer specifications to meet the valid requirements.
  • Provide feedback to the Planning group of time variances, technical issues, and alternate options to meet the production schedule
  • Communicates with employees’ the job expectations, including but not limited to, set up operation, welding procedure, special processes and expected cycle times.
  • Conducts performance reviews with employees at required intervals, and provides frequent feedback on improvement opportunities.
  • Helps to create an atmosphere for development of new concepts, ideas and methods to support continuous improvement in the department.
  • Ensures overall cleanliness of area and that proper maintenance is performed on all equipment for this area.
  • Ensures all employees within the group follow company procedures and policies while maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

  •      Strong managerial skills including ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  •      Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication processes (machining knowledge is a plus).

  •       Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints is a must.

  •       Must have ability to direct and motivate other employee.

  •       Proven leadership skills

  •       Strong problem solving skills in a fast paced manufacturing environment

  •     Hands-on management style

Education/Experience:

  • Associate Degree desired

  • Certified Welding Inspector required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in production processes, machinery and equipment related to sheet metal fabrication, welding applications and/or metalworking technology.

  • Good communication skills including computer literacy is required .
